· March,Drop the Tent,Gran Canaria

The Canary Islands are a group of Spanish islands off the coast of northwestern Africa. It consists of multiple small islands. My latest adventure was to one of the islands known as Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is known for its black lava and white sand beaches as well as its mountainous interior terrain. It is the second most populous island in the Canary Islands. In addition, it has a rich history, form the natives to Christoper Columbus stopping by on his expeditions.

My vacation to the island was for one week and it was the trip of a lifetime. The weather was clear every day, even though the forecast was for rain everyday. Some of the days were meant for shorts while others were meant for pants.

I booked a few excursions while on my trip:

  • Hike
  • Vespa (Mopeds)
  • Snorkeling
  • Catamaran Adventure
(I already have posts about my hike and catamaran adventure so feel free to check out those.)

Driving a vespa is so much freakin' fun! Since I had never drove one before, the guide instructed me on how to do so, which was super helpful. The moped included a GPS which had preprogrammed tours and directed me around the southern part of the island. I ended up on the GC-500; a road that is on the edge of the cliffs that allows you to see the spectacular views of the coast. I definitely suggest this tour.

The other tour was the snorkelling one, which was neat. It began with a refresher course in a pool. Then, the instructor and I went to the ocean with wetsuits where we saw an abundance of colorful fish. I also learned that fish love bananas for some strange reason.

Overall, the trip was a success. I walked around multiple cities and had the chance to enjoy myself. It was a splendid way to spend a week off from work.

As always, thanks for reading and remember to subscribe to my newsletter. If you do, you'll be the true hero here. Also, I offer travel planning services, so if you need help, just let me know!
